SPEAKERS BIO

Naznin Ali – Systemic Family Practitioner and Family Learning Intervention Programme (FLIP) House Manager, London Borough of Hackney

Naznin Ali is the Family Learning Intervention Programme (FLIP) House Manager in Oxfordshire, working with families with children at risk of becoming on the edge of care; to strengthen family relationships at risk of breaking down as well as supporting children in residential care back to a family environment. Naznin is a qualified Systemic Practitioner with over 13 years experience of working with substance misusers and their families in various voluntary and statutory settings. Naznin is passionate about supporting and strengthening relationships within a family context.

Ellie Guedalla, Specialist Substance Misuse Practitioner, London Borough of Hackney

Ellie Guedalla is a Specialist Substance Misuse Practitioner who works with families where one or more parents have a substance misuse difficulty. Ellie delivers the Orbit Project which is a specialist service for pregnant women and parents of preschool age children. Ellie has been working with substance misuse services for 10 years and has worked for and with both statutory and voluntary services.

THIS SESSION AIMS TO:

  • Increase understanding of substance misuse from a biological and psycho social perspective by looking at a variety of substances and their effects.
  • Explore change, including the cycle of change, and the impact of substances on relationships.
  • Explore tools, interventions and recovery options.
