Coaching Programme for NQSWs: Being Assertive

INTRODUCTION:

This session is primarily for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are working with children and families, as an opportunity to support their confidence to practice post-qualifying. 

Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive. It is a skill that can be learned and a mode of communication.

This webinar will provide you with a range of tools and techniques to improve your skills in being an assertive professional.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Understand what is considered to be assertive behaviour;

 

  • Have learned about a number of tools including the 3 C’s of assertiveness;

 

  • Be able to reflect on their own level of assertiveness and create an action plan to enable them to build on their new assertiveness skills going forward

 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER(S):

Heidi Rossetter is a Practice Development Lead in Islington Adult Social Care. Her role focuses on practice learning, ASYE, training and policy development. She is also experienced in coaching and mentoring as well as facilitating a wide range of training courses. Her background is in managing services for adults with learning disabilities. 

Conor Copas is Practice Development Lead, Quality Assurance in Islington Social Work Practice, Adult Social Care. Background rooted in Social Work practice, CQC regulated service provision and Learning disability supported living and day opportunities management.
