This session will be facilitated by colleagues from the NRPF Network, a network of local authorities and partner organisations focusing on the statutory duties to migrants with care needs who have no recourse to public funds.

Local authorities play an important role in safeguarding the most vulnerable people with NRPF from destitution. Practitioners must ensure that they are administering support correctly by establishing need in line with social care and immigration legislation, as well as delivering a cost-effective service.  This course will be delivered by the NRPF Network for local authority practitioners responsible for assessing and supporting adults with NRPF who have recent casework experience and wish to update or develop their knowledge. An understanding of NRPF and local authority duties will be required.

By the end of the training course, participants will:

  • Be aware of recent/new legislation which applies to assessing and supporting adults with NRPF and how this impacts on practice
  • Be able to use legislation and case law to help resolve complex NRPF cases, including using discretionary powers and undertaking human rights assessments
  • Know how to proactively manage NRPF cases to expedite case resolution

*This event is only open to social workers and practitioners working in social care within our Partner organisations, comprising of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington councils, the charity Norwood and Middlesex University.
