Coaching Programme for NQSWs: Report Writing & Analytical Recording

Lisa Green 0 164

INTRODUCTION:

This session is primarily for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are working with children and families, as an opportunity to support their confidence to practice post-qualifying.

Participants will explore how written work can use ‘Language that Cares’ whilst also ensuring that it is analytical and child-focused.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Be familiar with ‘Language that Cares’, and feel confident in writing in a similar style and tone;

  • Know how the child’s voice can be emphasised in report writing and recording, and how this can be done when a child is pre-verbal or uses non-verbal communication methods;

  • Think about the importance of analysis, reflection and hypothesising in report writing and recording;

ABOUT THE SPEAKER(S):

Amber Dillon is an enthusiastic and dedicated frontline Social Worker, with five years’ experience in Children’s Social Care. Amber has also worked as an Independent, Domestic Violence Advocate for charities such as Women’s Aid and Refuge.

Over the past three years, Amber began to share her knowledge and experience (both lived, and professional) by leading training on the Social Graces, understanding LGBTQ+ and supporting LGBTQ+ Children and Young People. Amber is dedicated to ensuring that frontline practice is child-focused, the child’s voice is clearly heard in written work, and that the child is at the centre of any intervention.
